Matt Cox (GRG Operations Director) and Fran Browning (GRG ISO and Projects Officer) enjoyed being Dragons for a day; and meeting the BTEC Level 3 Diploma Business students at the Guernsey College of Further Education who took part in a Dragons’ Den challenge earlier this week. To complete a module called “Starting a Small Business”, students had to pitch their business proposals to a panel of Dragons.

Students pitched their ideas in groups, which included a Porposal outlining the business case, budget, cash flow and branding. Ideas included a nutritional supplement shop, 90’s fashion brand, luxury hampers, a beauty salon and a bowling alley. Each member of the group took a different role, depending on their skill sets: Finance Director, Marketing or MD.

Following the presentations, the students answered questions from the panel and then finally the Dragons were asked if they would invest. A great afternoon and lots of innovative ideas from some of Guernsey’s very promising business students! Dragons included representatives from SPF Private Clients, Lloyds Bank Foundation, Galaxy CI, Collas Crill, Guernsey Recycling Group, States Veterinary Officer and Rothschild Private Wealth.
