ISWMS Pre-Construction Agreements – Click to see Press Conference Video.

Tuesday 13th October 2020 marked the signing of Pre-Construction Agreements for Integrated Solid Waste Management System in the Cayman Islands. The Agreements will allow various works to be done to prepare the George Town Landfill and surrounding area for the future infrastructure works.

Attending the signing ceremony was the Cayman Islands Premier Alden McLaughlin, who shared his delight that “Cayman Islands people can begin to see the Government’s vision for waste management in the country”. These Agreements precede the final agreements to design, fund, build and maintain solid waste management infrastructure and provide processing services for 25 years, which are targeted for signature before the end of the year.

GRG, together with its local waste management company Island Recycling, will be providing the recycling services as part of the Dart-led Consortium. Recycling services will include scrap metal, C&D waste, dry recyclables, green waste and bottom ash. GRG Managing Director, Michael Grime, commented “The signing of these agreements mark an important milestone for the ISWMS project, and is another step closer to the realisation of a best-in-class solid waste solution for the Cayman Islands, for a generation.”
